Cyrus Jirongo wants Uhuru to apologise to Ruto and Kenyans

Eldoret, Kenya: United Democratic Party (UDP) party leader Cyrus Jirongo has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to apologise to Kenyans over his alleged role in fixing Deputy President and William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Jirongo, a former Lugari MP who rose to the political limelight along with Ruto as Youth for Kanu in 1992 said Uhuru was a key leader in the Party of National Unity (PNU) and he was aware of the plot to have Ruto prosecuted in ICC following the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

"Uhuru and his camp should stop hypocrisy that they are praying for Ruto yet they are the ones who set him up. They should instead say the truth, apologise to him first and all Kenyans before talking of strategising to have him absolved from The Hague-based court," Jirongo said.

Speaking in Kesses Constituency, Uasin Gishu during a funds drive, Jirongo said Ruto was betrayed by Uhuru's camp and getting into a coalition has not benefited him at all as he has been turned into a slave.

The legislator observed that the merger of the United Republican Party (URP) led by Ruto with The National Alliance (TNA) of President Uhuru Kenyatta has turned out against the DP with the latter suffering intimidation that has threatened his political career and his command in Rift Valley.

“Hii ni Ndoa ya mateso kwa deputy president (The DP is in an oppressive marriage), he should get out immediately and come we make a union to walk out of slavery together, when we merge forces nobody can stop our power in the masses.”

Jirongo accused the TNA faction of Jubilee for enhancing graft and undermining the needs of Kenyans and called on Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who was at the event to advise his URP camp to come out of the cruel marriage.

Jirongo also accused key persons in government for bringing down economic strongholds in Western Kenya in reference to the approval of sugar importation and maize and dairy production where prices have massively nose-dived.

He indicated that the Western region is ready to merge with the Rift Valley Community to move out of what he termed as increasing oppression for the benefit of serving all Kenyans equally.

Also present in the event was renowned businessman David Lagat and Mediheal Group of Hospitals proprietor Dr. Swarrup Mishra who called for dialogue and unity among leaders for the sake of development.

Mishra who is eyeing the Kesses parliamentary seat, said Ruto has always been a brave leader who has people's interests in mind and called for the support of his leadership and sobriety in handling emerging issues within government.
