I have read a box-load of books on productivity and interviewed a number of successful people on the same. Of course, different people have expressed different ways that they make the best out of their day. However, two things that consistently come out are:

1. The 80/20 rule

Only 20 per cent of what you do each day produces 80 percent of your results. Therefore, to be productive, one needs to eliminate the things that don’t matter during your workday; those things that have a minimal effect on your overall productivity. Some people expressed this as delegation.

2. Using mornings to focus on yourself

It’s a big productivity killer to start your mornings by checking your email and your calendar.

This allows others to dictate what you accomplish. Start your day out right by focusing on yourself; read a book, workout, get in a book breakfast, to ensure you’ve got the necessary fuel for a productive day.
