NYAMIRA: The government has bought over 360 dairy goats to improve milk production.

During the launch of the project in Nyamusi sub-county yesterday, Governor John Nyagrama said: "We will support vulnerable groups with 360 dairy goats. The initiative is to support vulnerable groups as well as enable small scale farmers utilise land well."

He thanked World Vision and Nyamusi Agriculture Development Partners for backing the strategy by supporting groups with 21 dairy goats.

Peris Mongare, county executive for Agriculture, said dairy goats are easy to manage, require minimal infrastructure and mature early.

Each group will be given four goats of the Toggenburg breed.
