Blogger arraigned in court over "Wajir women rep sex video"

A blogger suspected to have circulated a fake obscene video purported to be of Wajir Woman Representative Fatma Gedi in a compromising situation with unidentified man was yesterday arraigned in a Kiambu court.

Douglas Baya who was arrested by police on December 27 was arraigned before Kiambu Senior Resident Magistrate Brian Kiambu.

The suspect did not take plea after prosecution through cybercrime investigating Officer Bakhith Khaungu asked the court to allow them to hold the suspect for seven days to conclude investigations.

The officers told the court they needed to obtain forensic report on cyber report from Communication Authority of Kenya as well as travel to Wajir and Kakamega to arrest more suspects linked to the matter.

The suspect is likely to be charged with the offence of publishing Obscene Information in Electronic Form Contrary to the law.

The magistrate granted the police permission to continue holding the suspect for 14 days to complete investigations.

He will be returned to the court on January 14, 2019 when he is expected to take plea.
