Top 10 spending ministries in 2018/19 financial year: CoB

Report from the Controller of Budget has indicated massive spending by the National government in the first quarter of 2018/19 financial year.

According to the report, the total expenditure by the National government amounted to Sh429.3 billion, 16 per cent of the annual gross evaluations.

“The expenditure represents Sh217.7 billion of recurrent programmes by MDAs, representing 20.3 percent of the gross with recurrent estimates of Sh160.5 billion on CFS, representing 16.7 per cent of the annual gross estimates and Sh51.1 billion spent on development activities, representing an absorption rate of 7.6 per cent,” read the report.

The report further indicates that Teachers Service Commission had the highest spending of Sh58.2 billion on personal emoluments (PE)with State Department for Social Protection spending Sh4.1 billion, taking the least of the top 10 spending departments.

This is the actual figures showing how taxpayer’s money was spent by the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the first quarter of 2018/19 fiscal year.
