Malindi hoteliers upbeat over festivities as hotels upgrade

Hoteliers in Malindi, a popular holiday destination for tourists predominantly from Italy is sprucing up its properties in readiness for the Christmas and New Year holiday season.

For instance, Sandies Tropical Village and Diamonds Dream of Africa Hotels, both managed by the Plan Hotel Group, are being renovated. Resorts General Manager Mr Alexander Zissimatos said that the long December holidays present an amiable moment for holiday-makers to sample diverse attractions.

 Zissimatos said that Kenyan Coast remains a popular tourist destination for many. He said their advance bookings for the holiday season indicates 60 per cent local and 40 per cent foreign.

“We still get bookings from guests via the Madaraka Express train service. We also get those who jet into Malindi from Nairobi and elsewhere,” he said.
