Tourists flock Nakuru for Easter holiday celebration

Security has been enhanced in Nakuru ahead of Easter holidays.

Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha said security personnel have been deployed to all towns to ensure people are safe during the holiday.

Nkanatha said the officers will also be manning shopping centers, hotels and religious places and main highways as a measure to protect the county from terrorism attacks.

"I assure all residents and visitors that security measures have been set in place for safety of the residence and visitors too," said Nkanatha.

He said all officers including regular police and administration police who were off duty and leave have been recalled to boost security.

The commissioner added that Nakuru has not experienced any terrorist attacks in the past years and the police are working together with the residence to get any information concerning terrorism.

The Easter holiday has brought local and international tourist with hotels in the region recording high numbers of bed occupancy leading to the county earning high revenue.

According to Christopher Komen the marketing manager in charge of Bontana a hotel said hotels in the region are recording remarkable bed occupancy.

"Most of our 86 rooms are already occupied and we are expecting the hotel to be fully packed by tomorrow," he said.
