Why Ruto’s wife wants women to come up with business plan

NAIROBI,KENYA: Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel, has asked women entrepreneurs to come up with viable business plans aimed at empowering them economically.

Mrs. Ruto said well-planned business initiatives create a chance to lift women out of poverty and improve their living standards.

Saying issues of women empowerment are the foundations on which a family and a nation is build; Mrs. Ruto said poverty could be won if women participate in economic activities aimed at uplifting their living standards.

Addressing women groups in Uasin- Gishu County after presenting them with 10 motorbikes in Eldoret town, Mrs. Ruto called on need for women an entrepreneur to diversify their economic activities to increase household income.

“There is need for women to devote themselves to increase their economic activities to enhance a robust and efficient business network’, she said.

Mrs. Ruto said that women in the country have shown great potential for enterprise encouraging them to venture into business with determination to succeed through savings.

Mrs. Ruto who was accompanied by a guest from the United States Ms Nailla Chaudhury, also made an extensive tour in the county where she inspected several women groups’ projects affiliated to Joywo Organization.

Speakers at the function urged women to engage in economic activities aimed at uplifting their living standards, saying the journey to be billionaires’ starts by saving little by little.

They added that it is only through team work that they can engage in meaningful development activities like farming, poultry keeping among other income generating activities which can improve their livelihoods.

Hailing Mrs. Ruto for her tireless efforts in helping women economically, JOYWO Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Emily Ngetich, thanked Mrs. Ruto for the motorbikes donation which she said will go along way alleviating transport challenges faced by the coordinators.
