Kenyan top grade coffee prices climbs in latest sale

NAIROBI, Kenya: The top price of the benchmark Kenyan coffee grade rose to $340 per 50 kg bag at Tuesday's auction from $312 last week, the Nairobi Coffee Exchange said.

Kenya is a relatively small producer of coffee but its beans are much sought after by roasters to blend with those of lower quality from other producing countries.

The benchmark grade AA <COF-AA-KE> sold at $177-$340 per bag compared with $152-$312 last week, the exchange said after the auction.

Grade AB coffee <COF-AB-KE> fetched $106-$268 per bag compared with $102-$258 last week.

The average price for all the 17,413 bags of coffee offered was $202.54 per bag.
