Barclays Bank unveils 24-hour branch at Mombasa port

Mombasa, Kenya: Barclays Bank of Kenya has opened the first ever 24-hour branch at the port of Mombasa. The branch will serve the entire business community within Mombasa port area as the East African gateway continues to enhance efficiency.

The launch is part of a three-year strategy focusing on enhancing service delivery to clients via multi-channelled solutions.

Barclays Bank of Kenya Managing Director Jeremy Awori said the coastal region is an important market for the bank. He said the branch embraces technology which would not only enable customers to conveniently access services but also play a big role in encouraging the country’s 24-hour economy culture.

Apart from the new  branch, Barclays has recently focused on its consumer banking preposition by enhancing their mobile banking experience through a mobile app powered by an online banking platform that was revamped in September last year. 

Customer experience

“Our approach of moving closer to the customer is aimed at improving the customer experience while at the same time harnessing the customer feedback to extract valuable insight that is used by our marketing team to come up with segment specific products,”  Awori explained.

According to the bank, the fully fledged branch would offer a broad spectrum of the banking products and services such as savings account, loans, cash deposits/withdrawals, account balance inquires, funds drive among others on a 24 hour basis.

Awori said that the new premises would allow the financial institution to deliver the great service to customer’s expectations.

“The investment in the new branch confirms our commitment to the growth of Kenya’s economy by providing convenient banking services at the East African gateway,” he added during the launch.
