Baby Sagini accuses grandmother of gouging out his eyes

Baby Brighton Sagini, whose eyes were gouged out on December 13 last year, has placed his grandmother at the scene of the attack.

Testifying on Friday, March 10, 2023, through an intermediary, Baby Sagini said his grandmother Rael Nyakerario could have been among the people who gouged his eyes using hands and other weapons.

Alex Ochogo, Rael Nyakerario and Pacificah Nyakerario are facing charges of causing grievous body harm on December 13, 2022.

Prosecutor Hillary Kaino had made an application to the court to amend the charges from attempted murder.

Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno ruled that the charges be changed from those of attempted murder to causing grievous harm following an application by Prosecutor Hillary Kaino.

Also testifying through an intermediary, the victim's sister said on the material day, they went to the river to fetch water as usual. However, Baby Sagini did not show up back at home allegedly after he had lost his water jerrican.

The next day, she said, someone told their grandmother that he had been dumped at the maize plantation.

She alleged that her grandmother chased her away later in the day.
