MPs yesterday approved President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Public Service Commission (PSC) chairperson nominee.

Antony Mwaniki got the nod of the House, paving the way for his appointment. The legislators also approved Caroline Naikena Letupuru and Thomas Okoth-who were nominated by Uhuru-to serve as members of the National Gender and Equity Commission (NGEC).

The approvals during the special sitting preceded tabling of reports by the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security and Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare Committee that vetted Mwaniki and the NGEC nominees, respectively.

“The committee recommends that the House approves the appointment of Mrs Caroline Naikena Lentupuru and Mr Thomas Okoth Koyier as members of the National and Equality Commission,” states the report by the committee.

Mwaniki told members that ensuring young graduates get job placements will be his priority. He said this as MPs questioned his decision to apply for the position after attaining the retirement age of 60.
