Perimeter of affluence

Real Estate

Slightly more understated than Muthaiga, Spring Valley is an exclusive, low-density suburb distinguished by contemporary homes in well-treed compounds.

In this neighbourhood, you will come across old colonial houses to gated compounds and apartments. Just 15 minutes drive away from the CBD, it is also close to Westlands with its numerous malls and restaurants.

Spring Valley is characterised by a mixture of modern, old and pre-modern architecture.

Apart from the storied mansions and villas with beautiful gardens shaded by trees, there are a few apartments and hotels that are accessible within the area.

Most are four bedroom townhouses elegantly designed with inbuilt wardrobes, spacious living rooms, dining, beautiful fitted kitchens and servant quarters. Some come with Jacuzzis and swimming pools. On average, a four bedroom bungalow sells at about Sh45 million, with a monthly rent of Sh200,000.

Barricaded roads

As a low-density area, Spring Valley is considered safe as most roads are barricaded and there are police stations within the vicinity, like Spring Valley Police Station and Lower Kabete Police Station. Many private security firms also patrol the area.

Hospitals that serve the estate include the Aga Khan, Westlands Cottage, M.P. Shah and Avenue Park. Schools around the area include Brookside International, Aga Khan, Intel College and Peponi among others.

This area is relatively free of public transport as most residents use private means. For those who choose to use public transport, high-end cabs are the preferred means and cost over Sh1,200. Dining in Spring Valley offers variety in cuisines with several upmarket restaurants like Haandi, Eat Out on Brookside and Zen Garden.

The Spring Valley shopping centre and the Village Market are some of the shopping areas near the estate.
