Covid-19: Positivity rate drops to 0.6 per cent as 24 people test positive

Kenya has so far administered 15,437,589 Covid-19 vaccines across the country according to the Ministry of Health latest records.

Of these, 7,455,519 have been partially vaccinated while 7,027,862 have been fully vaccinated.

Another 725,567 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 228,641 are booster doses.

In a statement on Monday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the ministry administered 159, 235 vaccines across the country in the last 24 hours while the number of people fully vaccinated within the same period now stands at 72,843.

New infections

Kenya recorded 24 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 4,050 raising the country's caseload to 322,497.

CS Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 0.6 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 3,299,132.

Out of the new patients, nine are female, whereas 15 are male, with the youngest carrier being a five-year-old child and the oldest aged 72.

Of the new cases, four are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.

Distribution

In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi County recorded 14 cases, Machakos and Mombasa 3 cases each, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kilifi, Kwale and Uasin Gishu 1 case each.

Total recoveries now stand at 302,829 after 85 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours 67 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme and 18 from various health facilities in the country.

Of the total recoveries, 250,047 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 52,782 are from various hospitals countrywide.

Admitted

A total of 161 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 679 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Four (4) patients are in the ICU three of them are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 31 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen 28 of them in the general wards, while three patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
