536 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 6,036 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said five hundred and eighteen of the new cases are Kenyans while eighteen are foreigners.

The country’s covid positivity rate is now 8.9 per cent, with 188,513 total confirmed cases and 2,012,698 cumulative tests conducted since the onset of the disease.

Some three hundred and thirty-six patients have also recovered. “236 were discharged from various health facilities and one hundred from the Home-Based Isolation and Care Program,” CS Kagwe said.

The total Covid-19 recoveries now stand at 178,119.

Three patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the death toll to 3,721.

“1,092 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 3,992 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program. 120 patients are in the ICU, thirty-nine on ventilatory support and sixty-one on supplemental oxygen,” he added.

The country has so far administered 1,538,340 vaccines, with only two per cent of the adult population fully vaccinated.
