Covid-19: Kenya records 452 new infections, two deaths

452 people have tested positive for the coronavirus today, from a 4,876 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

Kenya now has a 9.3 positivity rate, 187,977 confirmed Covid cases, and 2,006,662 tests conducted so far.

The Health Ministry in a brief said that some 1,327 patients have also recovered from the disease.

“1,272 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care, while fifty-five were discharged from various health facilities,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

The country’s total recoveries are now 177,783.

Two patients have succumbed to the disease, both being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits between June 29 and July 7.

The Covid-19 death toll now stands at 3,718.

“1,151 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,241 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program. 128 patients are in the ICU, forty on ventilatory support and fifty-eight on supplemental oxygen.”

Kenya has administered 1.5 million jabs so far, while the number of adults fully vaccinated is 1.94 per cent.
