Royal Club to host World corporate golf challenge

Kenya is set to host the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) at Royal Nairobi Golf Club on September 3-4.

The high profile event has attracted a strong field of 250 international and local players.

“The championships will run for two days due to the strict Covid-19 protocols laid down by the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Health,” Royal Nairobi Golf Club captain Sylvester Odhiambo told Standard Sports.

“Those who will contest on Friday, will not play on Saturday and vice versa. This will also help to limit crowding on the “19th hole” after the game,” said Odhiambo.

The competition will be played in the stableford format. The Kenyan contest will offer a chance for winners to take part in the 2021 WCGC World Finals in Portugal slated for early November.

“Apart from looking forward to punch tickets to the world finals, the championships will offer various executives a platform to network, interact and share ideas on how best they can grow their businesses wherever they are working,” said Odhiambo.

The winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to Portugal where they will mingle with other world beaters from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, USA, India, Japan, Colombia and Malaysia.
