It was song and dance for Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) players and officials after winning the 34th edition of the annual Inter-Bank tournament at the weekend.

For the third consecutive year, CBK emerged tops after amassing 924 points at the championships at Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

Barclays Bank of Kenya, with 850 points, finished second, while Equity Bank were third with 849 points.

The event that attracted 33 banking institutions was graced by CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge, who lauded the banking policy of keeping their employees healthy and active in extra curriculum activities.

He termed this year’s tournament as fierce, competitive and friendly.

"I’m impressed by this year’s event. Many hidden talents have been discovered. All of you did your personal best. I thank the organisers, Kenya Institute of Bankers, players and officials including those who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success," said Njoroge.

“The discipline shown here and lessons learned during the week-long event will be taken back to their banks and their esteemed customers will have a refreshed feel from our employees."

“My Equity Bank fellow CEO (Polycarp Igathe) beat me in the CEO Athletics race but next year it will be different," Njoroge joked.

Reuben Osando from Consolidated Bank of Kenya was picked as the best player of the tournament.

In Athletics, Postbank won both men and women titles. Co-operative Bank won in men's handball. [Standard Sports]
