Robert Matano sums up medical condition

Former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka coach Robert Matano summed up his current medical condition on Wednesday night by stating; “I really miss my job”.

A fundraising for ailing Ulinzi Stars head coach Robert Matano raised slightly over Sh1 million on Tuesday night. Hundreds of football stakeholders turned up for the fundraiser at Nairobi's 680 Hotel following a plea by the former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka coach for support.

Matano thanked all the wish-wishers who turned up said he will undergo an operation on Monday at Mater Hospital. He admitted that he is slowly improving after undergoing dialysis.

"My doctors have recommended for an operation that has been booked for Monday at Mater Hospital in South B. After a week, God's willing the doctors will tell me the progress" he said.

Matano said he fell sick during the East Africa Military Games held in Rwanda two months ago.

"I started feeling bad in Rwanda and when I returned home, I was rushed to hospital where it was discovered that my kidneys were failing. Since then I have been undergoing dialysis and getting better," he said.

Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga donated Sh100,000 while Ulinzi Stars Executive committee gave Sh100,000 through the club vice chairman Joe Birgen.

Other donations came from Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura (Sh50,000), FKF President Nick Mwendwa (Sh80,000), KPL Chat group (Sh61,000) among others.
