Contractors prepare to sue over delayed payments

In a notice to Governor Stephen Sang, through their lawyer, Omondi and Company Advocates, the contractors said they will institute legal proceedings if they are not paid by May 4.

Over 200 contractors in Nandi County have threatened to sue the county government over pending bills amounting to Sh1.3 billion.

In a notice to Governor Stephen Sang, through their lawyer, Omondi and Company Advocates, the contractors said they will institute legal proceedings if they are not paid by May 4.

The unpaid dues are for projects dating back to the 2014/2015 financial year. In September last year, Sang recommended that contractors be denied payments for “substandard work and illegal tendering processes”.
