A section Jamia Mosque youth in Kakamega on Friday took to the streets to protest poor leadership.
They have questioned among other things, the manner in which a portion of the mosque land was "sold off" and how money meant for widows, orphans and the needy is being used.
Youth leader Kassim Musotsi claimed Ibrahim Sadala, the Imam in-charge, is perpetuating corruption.
The youths are now calling on donors to stop giving funds until a forensic audit of the mosque's accounts is made public.
They claimed that anyone who tries to inquire on any dealings is threatened.
Sadala has refuted these claims saying "the demonstrators are working for a faction that pays them to demonstrate. They don't have genuine concerns. We have bursaries which are offered depending on one's academic performancel.
"We have not seen any donor complain of misuse of whatever donation given," he said.
