Key roads will be closed today ahead of Mashujaa Day celebrations to be held in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

Speaking during a media breakfast meeting in Mwea yesterday, Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga said the main Nairobi-Nyeri road will be closed at Makutano. He advised motorists to use the Nairobi-Mwea-Embu-Meru and divert to the Sagana-Nyeri road.

He also advised motorists using the Embu-Kutus-Kerugoya road to take alternative routes at Samson Corner.

"Motorists using the Nairobi-Embu-Meru are advised to use Makutano-Sagana-Nyeri route," he said.

Nyagwanga called for patience and cooperation from motorists.

He told miraa drivers to be disciplined while using alternative roads. The roads will be closed at 5am while the stadium will be opened at 4am.
