Chaos at Nyandarua County Assembly as Speaker Wahome is locked out

Chaos erupted at the Nyandarua County Assembly on Tuesday, May 25 as a group of youth forced their way into the premises in the company of embattled Speaker Ndegwa Wahome.

Wahome was reinstated by the High Court in late April after being impeached for a second time by a section of Nyandarua MCAs.

During the Tuesday mayhem, the pro-Wahome group destroyed the main gate to allow Wahome gain access to his office.

Police were forced to fire teargas canisters to disperse the surging crowd.

Five ward representatives supporting Wahome were denied access to the County Assembly.

The pro-Wahome team includes Gatimu Ward MCA, Kireru Wambui, who was supposed to give a notice of motion to impeach Governor Francis Kimemia.

Kireru had collected signatures from13 MCAs out of 38.
