Veteran politician Gitobu Imanyara has become one of the first candidates in the General Election to concede defeat.

Taking lead in the parliamentary race is Independent candidate Mwenda Makathimo.

In a press statement, Imanyara however called for electoral reforms to remove money from the heart of political campaigns.

He said Kenya is at the risk of using possession of money as sole criterion of getting leaders.

He praised IEBC staff in Meru for a well conducted election.

Imanyara congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta for taking a commanding lead in the presidential race.
