Absa Bank wins global accolade as top employer in Kenya and Africa in 2022

Absa Bank Kenya has been certified as a top employer in Kenya and Africa in 2022 by the Top Employers Institute. This award recognizes the bank's commitment to making the workplace a better place to work, as evidenced by "outstanding HR policies and people practices."

The certification follows participation and results of companies’ HR Best Practices Survey by The Top Employers Institute, which is the world's leading authority on recognising excellence in people practices.

The institute’s programme’s survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics, including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion and more.

Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director Jeremy Awori said that the achievement places the bank amongst a prestigious group of companies that are globally recognised for excellence in supporting employee growth and innovation.

“It is a great testament that our strategy on transforming our workplace and evolving our ways of working is sound, and underlines one of our core values at Absa which is that ‘Our People are our Strength’,” said Awori. “We recognise the critical role our colleagues play in ensuring that our customers enjoy a great banking experience from us, and we are committed to creating a working environment that allows them to thrive.”

Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink praised Absa Bank Kenya, saying that it had “continued to show that it prioritises maintaining excellent people practices in the workplace” in a year that has been demanding and that has impacted organisations across the world.

“Absa continues to meet the challenges of the changing world of work while working tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of its workforce. We are pleased to celebrate and applaud the organisations that have been certified as Top Employers in their respective countries this year,” said Plink.

Top Employers Institute, which was established over 30 years ago, helps accelerate people practices to enrich the world of work. Through the Top Employers Institute Certification Programme, participating companies get validated, certified and recognised as employers of choice. The institute has certified over 1857 organisations that positively impact the lives of over 8 million employees globally in 123 countries and regions.
