Uhuru re-appoints Jimi Kariuki as Kenya Tourism Board chair

President Uhuru Kenyatta has re-appointed Jimi Kariuki to serve for another term as chairman of the country's top tourism marketer, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).

Kariuki who is also Managing Director of Sarova Group of Hotels will serve for another three years effective May 3rd, 2019.

Another investor in the multibillion Shilling tourism industry, Mr Alphonse Kioko has been tapped to lead Tourism Fund (TF) as board chairman.

Kioko has held senior managerial positions in the aviation industry locally and abroad and is an investor in the hospitality industry.

In his appointment via Kenya gazette notice number 4309 under the Tourism Act (No 28 of 2011), President Uhuru Kenyatta exercised powers conferred to him by section 67(4) of the Tourism Act to appoint Mr Alphonse Kioko as chairperson of Tourism Fund for a period of three years.

His appointment took effect on May 3rd, 2019.

And Mr Mwambu Muliro has also benefitted from presidential appointment after he was reappointed chairman of the Kenya Utalii College.
