EMBU, KENYA: A man and his daughter have been arrested after they were found in possession of Sh700,000 fake currencies in Embu North sub-county.

Police arrested the duo at Kamiu village after being tipped off by the public.

Area OCPD Mark Wanjala said the two are being held at Manyatta Police Station as police conduct investigation.

Wanjala said police are hunting for other suspects believed to be members of a cartel printing fake money.

He said investigations established the currency was made in Embu and used in various towns.

A number of residents are believed to have fallen prey to fake currency racket.

Wanjala said a suspicious liquid believed to be used in processing the fake currency of Sh1,000 notes was also confiscated

“Police officers are also searching for the machine which was being used to make the fake notes. The suspects will be arraigned in court later once investigation is concluded” he said.
