The car buying and selling service launched recently by OLX dubbed Sell It for Me has seen an increase in the number of posted and sold cars on its platform.

The firm says since its launch three months ago, the service has seen more than 1,000 cars posted through verified OLX champs in the new verified cars category on the platform.

The OLX champs handle the entire selling process end to end from posting to closing the deal on behalf of the seller. Out of the vehicles posted, over10 per cent of cars have been sold.

A recent survey was carried out by OLX and they noted that 47 per cent of their customers want more involvement by OLX in transactions on their platform.

OLX Country Manager Mr Peter Ndiang’ui said that the move to involve themselves in the transaction is to ensure sellers sell conveniently while ensuring safety for buyers through direct payments to OLX.

“We rolled out this virtual dealership service in April and three months in to it, we are seeing a huge number of mostly busy individuals, who are seeking convenience when selling their pre-owned cars take it up.

This service also gives us an opportunity to track the number of vehicles sold through our champs,” added Ndiang’ui.

In efforts to ensure traders transact safely through the service, OLX has allowed for buyers purchasing cars through champs, pay directly to OLX to guarantee safety. OLX says that seller verification through phone numbers has improved and closed in safety gaps.
