Xplico launches new ‘affordable’ insurance cover

Low and middle-income Kenyans seeking medical insurance cover now have more choices, thanks to a new health micro-insurance that promises cover worth half a million from a daily contribution as low as Sh30.

Xplico Insurance, a local firm is running a new package of micro-insurance cover dubbed “Maisha Poa” that is expected to attract more Kenyans to take up health insurance and result in stiffer competition in the growing health micro-insurance sector in the country.

According to Xplico’s Principal officer Stephen Karokii it is no secret that medical expenses are too expensive for ordinary Kenyans.

“Families are being driven to poverty, having to pay for medical bills out of their pocket,” he said.

Under the cover, an individual can get a half a million worth of cover per year for in-patient if he parts with Sh30 per day as premium. If the individual also signs up four other dependants, he pays Sh65 per day.

Under this package, called Dhahabu Cover, the individual also gets Sh20,000 in outpatient, and Sh100,000 personal accident cover as well as disability or death.
