NMS gets Sh48.3 billion in budget to smoothly manage county functions

Nairobi Metropolitan Services is set to receive Sh48.3 billion for the 2021-2022 financial year.
The General Mohammed Badi-led institution will receive Sh27.2 billion from the national government and Sh21.1 billion from the county government.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani, while reading the budget on Thursday, said NMS is expected to receive Sh27.2 billion to fund its operations for the financial year ending June 2022.
Out of the billions, Sh18 billion will be channelled towards recurrent expenditure while Sh9.2 billion will be development expenditure.

“To facilitate performance of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, I propose allocating it Sh27.2 billion comprising Sh18 billion for recurrent expenditure and Sh9.2 for development expenditure,” said Yatani.
According to the budget statement, under recurrent expenditure, Sh11.1 billion will go towards compensation of employees, Sh6.6 billion towards goods and services, Sh50 million as transfers to government agencies and Sh302.2 on non-financial assets.
