President Kibaki has told the newly appointed Cabinet ministers to inject fresh impetus in the management of public affairs.

Kibaki reminded the ministers that their focus should be to serve Kenyans with diligence and advised them to ignore unnecessary distractions from pessimists.

He said the new faces represented the youthful leaders of the nation.

"I look forward to working with you in the Cabinet. You are youthful, talented and expected to serve the nation in your new status with a difference. Your new assignment is challenging and exciting too," he said.

The President made the remarks at State House, Nairobi on Wednesday when he witnessed the swearing-in of three newly appointed Cabinet ministers Danson Mwazo, (Tourism), Eugene Wamalwa (Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs) and Jamleck Kamau (Nairobi Metropolitan).

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by acting Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Francis Kimemia. Kibaki expressed confidence that the ministers were up to the task ahead of them.

Development

The Head of State asked the ministers to propel the country’s stature regionally and internationally to unlock economic potential.

The President stated that the nation was experiencing an accelerated economic growth rate and increased revenue collection, adding that the prospects of development were bright with the discovery of oil in Turkana County.

"We recently discovered some oil. This is a good development for our country. It will help supplement our development efforts," the President said.

He added that the country is expected to experience robust development owing to many prospecting investors from all over the world who are keen to establish commercial ventures in Kenya.

Kibaki at the same time received credentials from eight newly posted envoys in the country.
