Muslim for Human Rights (Muhuri) has petitioned the Saudi Embassy over the death of a Kenyan woman.

Muhuri have got in touch with the Kenya Government legal advisor, who is now working with the lobby group to investigate the possible death of Khadija Omar Masoud.

The Executive Director of Muhuri, Khalid Hussein, said the body of the woman would be transported to Mombasa and the employer would have to pay the cost of transport.

"The body is expected in Kenya next week. It is currently being held in a mortuary in Dammam, Saudi Arabia," he said.

Hussein said inquiries with her family revealed that Khadija, 21, had called her mother four days earlier claiming her life was in danger and that her employers were planning to kill her.

The lobby called the envoy to intervene so that the family could know how the woman died.

"We request your embassy to kindly intervene and get in touch with officials in your country and get the truth about the death of Ms Khadija," the letter said.
