Police ask witnesses to help in probe

Police are calling on worshipers who were at the Uhuru Park explosions to come forward and identify the suspects they have in custody.

Detectives said on Saturday they are making good progress and what is remaining is the identification of the suspects.

"Investigators are at a critical stage and what is required is positive identification of the suspects for successful prosecution," said police spokesman Eric Kiraithe.

Kiraithe added the detectives had established the motive but argued it would be revealed in court when and if the suspects are charged.

He said up to 142 witnesses have recorded statements with police and that fragments collected at the scene are being analysed at the CID Bomb Squad Laboratory.

Sources told The Standard On Saturday that the detectives are holding five men they believe were behind the incident.
