Three people including a child were killed in separate incidents in Naivasha town and its environs.

In the first incident, two middle-aged men were murdered in Gilgil town and their bodies dumped near the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The body of a taxi driver was found with various parts of his body chopped off.

"He was found in the morning with his tongue missing and he had head injuries," said a witness.

Another motorcycle operator was murdered and his bike stolen.

"It seems the passenger killed him before making away with the motorcycle," said Naivasha deputy OCPD Jack Ekakuro.

And following the killings, business in Gilgil was paralysed for hours as motorcyclists protested.

Rising insecurity

More than 1,000 protesters riding their bikes blocked part of the Gilgil-Naivasha road causing a major traffic snarl-up.

The operators were angered over rising cases of insecurity that has left at least five of their colleagues killed.

In the same period, over 40 motorcycles have been stolen and scores of other operators injured by the robbers.

And in a separate incident, a domestic quarrel in Karagita estate left a six-month old baby dead.

The police boss said a couple fought and left the woman seriously injured and had to be admitted to Naivasha District Hospital.

Later on, the infant who had been left with the father was found dead leading to the arrest of the father.

Ekakuro added that two children were burnt beyond recognition in Gondi area of Moi Ndabi after their house caught fire. He said they were alone when the incident occurred.
