Esther, Quincy case takes new twist

Former TV anchor Esther Arunga and Finger of God Church officials have been charged afresh. Arunga, who has since changed her name to Esther Timberlake, jazz musician Nimrod Hellon Onyango, Quincy Zuma Timberlake and six others were surprised when they arrived for the hearing of an earlier case, only to be ordered to plead afresh.

This was after the prosecution withdrew charges against them and consolidated Arunga’s case with the one the others are facing. Nairobi Resident Magistrate E Nduva entered a not guilty plea for all of them in the charge of being members of an unlawful society, the Finger of God.

The magistrate released them on a cash bail of Sh20,000 each, and ordered the case be heard on May 31.
