Marende lauds service reforms

National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende has lauded reforms in the Public Service.

Mr Marende praised Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Public Service Minister Dalmas Otieno for streamlining service delivery.

"In the past, the public sector was known to be the hub of corruption. But now, public servants have changed work ethics and improved service to wananchi," said Marende.

In a speech read on his behalf by his deputy Farrah Maalim at the ongoing Public Service Week at KICC, Nairobi, on Wednesday, Marende said the sector had embraced modernity.

"Women in Public Service were not allowed to wear trousers to work. It was forbidden for women MPs to carry bags in the House. These have changed," said Marende.
