Moi Girls Eldoret and Kapsabet Boys secondary schools dominated last year’s national examination in Rift Valley Province.

The two schools had the highest number of students in the top 100 in the province in last year’s KCSE results.

The two produced 30 candidates in the provincial ranking.

But the little known Arnesens School in Eldoret stole the show by producing the best candidate, Patel Kush Nikhil, who emerged third in the top 100 nationally.

Moi Girls’ School had 18 candidates while Kapsabet Boys squeezed 12 students among the best 100 in the province. Moi High School, Kabarak, and Bahati Girls Secondary School produced six candidates each.

The two schools had three candidates each in the top 100 countrywide.

Moi High School Kabarak Principal Henry Kiplagat said they had performed better than the previous year but promised to improve in this year’s national examination.

Good Lord

"We thank God for the good results. We have improved compared to the previous year," he said.

Sister Magdalene Mwinde, the headmistress of Bahati Girls High School, said although they had not received the official results, the school had three girls in the national ranking. "We have at least three candidates in the national top 100 and we expect to have more ‘As’ when the official results are brought," she said.

Moi Girls Eldoret and Kapsabet Boys had two and one candidate in the national top 100.

Other national schools that performed well were Nakuru Boys and its sister school, Nakuru Girls, with four candidates in the region’s top 100 ranking.

Moi Tea Secondary School in Kericho had three candidates in the top 100 in the province.

Kericho High School also had four students in the list.

Lodwar High School, Moi Forces Academy Lanet, and Utumishi Academy of Gilgil had one candidate among the top 100.
