Relationships in campus nowadays are about validating each other’s existence. This is a far cry from the days when dating in campus was like a marriage

Sex is a way of life in campus. At any given time in universities, there is a student getting laid. So popular is the activity, that there are certain unwritten rules.

I didn’t quite catch her name, so let’s name her Doreen. I met Doreen outside our campus gates, distraught, cheated. She let me in on a tale that left me all jumbled up on emotions, not knowing whether to laugh at her or offer her a shoulder and say; “There there… take it easy, child.”

Money equals power, and power corrupts absolutely. In my campus, and virtually almost all public universities I know, money has been known to rip the bonds of friendships asunder.

Is it gentlemanly to laugh at a lady, especially if she is the talk of the campus and she falls right on her bum?

This whole thing about being cheated on by your best friend is getting too old. It is a relationship relic that has outlived its time. A friend planting a knife on one’s back is a story that has been retold in so many versions that it has lost its sheen. It is so stale that it has grown moulds. But then time and time again, we are thrilled at ordeals of friendships broken, trust bludgeoned and honour ridiculed — often by the last person you would expect.

Sometimes we like pointing fingers at Cupid for love affairs going sour, because, honestly speaking; he can be really irresponsible when he chooses to. Such are the times when you feel like he threw a hunting knife at your chest, rather than the magical love arrow. Well, as I said, this only happens sometimes.

I understand this is a family paper, thus there is need to control the content published here. However, there are certain things we must just talk about.

In all honesty, I do not think that the recent case concerning Governor’s Joho was brought up because of the whistle blower’s conscience. I doubt his intuition wouldn’t let him sleep if he hadn’t tarnished Mheshimiwa. I mean the guy has been a public figure for so long, and his records have been in the public domain for ages. So it begs the question, why now? Why didn’t he air out the dirty garments during the nomination’s process?

In high school, our mathematics teacher who doubled up as our games master, once warned us against pool game. He alleged that pool is not a sport. And I thoughtlessly listened, until I joined campus and realised the advice he gave us was birdfeed.
