Again! Omanyala breaks National 60m record for third time in France

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala continued his perfect form in the 60m after lowering the Kenyan National record for the third time at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais in Lievin, France.

Omanyala clocked 6.57 seconds to finish fourth at the meet.

The Tokyo Olympic semi-finalists had won his semi-final heat in 6.63 before losing to Olympic 100m champion Jacobs Marcell from Italy, who won in 6.50 as Cravont Charleston and Elijah Hall from United States timed 6.52 and 6.57 to finish second and third respectively

The 26-year-old broke the National Record the first time on February 4 this year when he won at Meeting Elite de Miramas in France, clocking 6.63 to shatter the previous National Record that had stood for 17 years.

Initially, Paulvince Obuon held the national record over the distance having clocked 6.70 seconds on January 28, 2005 at State College, United States.

Last week, the Sportsman of the Year award winner was at it again breaking 0.03 seconds from his previous record of 6.63 to a new record of 6:60 at Meeting Metz Monselle Athlelor in Metz.
