Rio Olympics: Photo mix-up correction

APOLOGY FOR WRONG USAGE OF PICTURE AND NAMES OF KENYA NATIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL VICE CHAIRMAN VANRAG SARVAIYA Kenya National Sports Council Vice Chairman Vanraj Sarvaiya during an interview with the standard team after his photo was wrongly used on Monday August 29/2016. Photo by WILLIS AWANDU (RIGHT) Resham Bains

On page 50 yesterday's edition of The Standard, we erroneously captioned distinguished Sports administrator Vanraj Sarvaiya as Resham Bains. Sarvaiya is the vice chairman of the Kenya National Sports Council and not a National Olympic Committee official. He was at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive Team Kenya athletes returning from Rio de Janeiro in the just-concluded Olympics. We take this early opportunity to set the record straight that Sarvaiya, who is a former Lawn Tennis Association of Kenya chairman is in no way connected to the shenanigans of the Rio Olympics. The correct photo of Resham Bains appears above inset.
