Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has advocated for a stronger Europe-Africa alliance to drive sustainable development.
Speaking in Denmark on Monday, March 11, where he is representing President William Ruto at the High-Level Dialogue meeting in Copenhagen, Mudavadi stressed the need for both regions to unlock their full potential by promoting inclusive growth and fostering cross-sector collaboration.
He welcomed Denmark’s commitment to sustainable development and highlighted the opportunities for aligning policies and investments with sustainable development goals.
“Let us remain steadfast in our dedication to cooperation and dialogue, translating our discussions into tangible actions that foster positive change in our societies.
Together, we can build stronger partnerships, foster innovation, and create a more prosperous world for future generations,” he said.
Mudavadi lauded Denmark’s support for Africa’s trade and investment initiatives, calling for engagements that will have a greater impact on the livelihoods of Africans.
He also called for the two regions to aid African countries in navigating stringent trade regulations.
“For instance, what we need to ask ourselves is what Europe or Denmark can do to help African countries navigate some stringent and difficult trade regulations like those within the World Trade Organization Set-Up,” he said.
Mudavadi singled out the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a single market for the continent, providing an incentive for Denmark and Europe to invest in value-added production in Africa.
At the same time, Mudavadi welcomed partnerships with Denmark and the EU to invest in food production to enable Africa’s producers to meet global safety standards.
Over 200 delegates from across Africa are attending the summit.
Mudavadi is expected to use the summit to engage in bilateral talks with the Danish Prime Minister and key investors.
The discussions will focus on enhancing the Kenya-Danish relationship by exploring untapped opportunities and new frontiers.
Kenya and Denmark enjoy a longstanding relationship spanning over six decades.
