The Kenya Music Festival, a showcase of students' talent in music, dance and elocution, will be held at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret from August 2 to 14, 2024.

The annual festival, organised by the Ministry of Education, will feature students from different age groups who will demonstrate their artistic skills and innovation under the theme of Talent Development For Growth of the Creative Economy.

The festival will highlight the economic potential of the creative sector, which can contribute to the country’s development through the promotion of cultural and creative industries.

Professor Ngala, the chairman of the Kenya Music Festival, said that performing arts enrich the cultural fabric of a nation by providing a platform for artistic expression and fostering a sense of identity and belonging.

“Creative arts are essential for holistic development, as they encompass the physical, emotional, cognitive and social aspects of a child,” he said.

“They also stimulate imagination, critical thinking and self-expression, while promoting social interaction and personal growth.”

The festival has received sponsorship from Jubilee Life Insurance, one of the leading providers of financial solutions in the country.

Kanyingi Kagucia, the company’s chief distribution officer said that the firm believes in fostering artistic expression as a fundamental aspect of education, personal development and socio-economic progress.

“Our partnership with Kenya Music Festival will not only enable us to advocate for art on a national scale but also empower children to explore, innovate and thrive in the melodic world of music,” he said.
