Police in Naivasha are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found in a hotel room in Naivasha.

The naked body of the middle-aged woman was found at a lodging in town with the throat slit with a knife.

Police recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the murder and a mobile phone also suspected to belong to the suspect who is still at large.

According to Naivasha sub-county police commander Stephen Kirui, the couple checked in at the lodging, located along Kariuki Chotara Road, hours before the body was recovered.

He said that workers found the room unlocked in the morning, and on checking, they saw a body with the neck slit and the bed sheets soaked in blood.

“From initial investigations, the victim was not sexually abused, but the killer using a sharp knife which we have since recovered, slit her throat before fleeing,” he said.

Kirui added that investigating officers were going through a mobile phone recovered in the lodging as part of their investigations.

The incident comes barely a week after the body of a pregnant woman, who had been murdered through strangulation, was found dumped along Moi South Lake Road in the town.

Collected fingerprints

A week after the incident, the body that is lying at the Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary is yet to be identified, though police have collected her fingerprints for identification purposes.

In the same town, residents of Kayole estate are trying to come to terms with an incident where a junior bank worker took his life in his house in unclear circumstances.

The lifeless body of the man in his mid-30s was found by the wife dangling from a double-decker bed in the children’s bedroom.

The OCPD confirmed the incident, adding that police had since collected the body and opened an inquest file as part of their investigations.

“There are all manner of allegations, but the investigating officers have recorded a statement from the wife and other witnesses,” said the police boss.
