Nadco report focused on posts for the 'big boys', says Wamalwa

DAP-K leader and Azimio principal Eugene Wamalwa has maintained his attack on the National Dialogue Committee (Nadco) report, stating that the Kenya Kwanza wing focused on the creation of positions as its priority.

Speaking in Sabatia Constituency, Vihiga County, Mr Wamalwa said the creation of posts for ‘big boys’ was the main agenda of the Kenya Kwanza team led by Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwah as opposed to the lowering of the high cost of living which was being championed by Azimio side.

He said they will retreat next year to soldier on with their fight against the high cost of living.

The former CS distanced himself from the report since the cost of living was not captured.

“We came on the table demanding the reduction of the price of the basic commodity and fuel but our brothers on the other side vehemently refused our proposals and proposed the entrenching of office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary into law, office of the opposition leader, creation of more seats for women representative, embedment of CDF and establishment of ward development fund.”

Wamalwa said he refused to sign the report and rejected the sitting allowance.

Her faulted the government for the high price of fuel, claiming that the global price of crude oil had gone down.

“We will continue fighting for Kenyans come next year so that what we wanted to be addressed concerning the common person is addressed,” he said.

Wamalwa’s sentiments are in line with the stand of Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua who has also rubbished the report, terming it a fraud.

Karua had earlier argued that the NADCO report lacked substance to alleviate citizens’ suffering. 

Azimio leader Raila Odinga and the NADCO co-chair Kalonzo Musyoka have endorsed the report, sparking claims of rift in Azimio formation.

Additionally, President Ruto has commended the NADCO for what he termed as exemplary work.
