Kenya Police Bullets forward Chris Kach Mulusa was presented with the FIFPRO Player Activism Award at the KEFWA head offices in Nairobi, Kenya.

The ceremony, recognizing players' exceptional contributions off the field, took place during the 2023 FIFPRO Merit Awards.

The FIFPRO Merit Awards not only celebrated outstanding performances on the pitch but also acknowledged the impactful work players do beyond the game. Alongside individual awards, the Union Impact Award was presented to the player association that initiated the most commendable project to enhance the wellbeing of professional footballers in their respective countries.

Chris Kach emerged as the winner during the General Assembly held in South Africa, standing tall alongside distinguished football figures such as Oleksandr Zinchenko of Arsenal FC, who secured the second position, and Galatasaray FC's Cedric Bakambu, who claimed the third spot.

Expressing his gratitude, Kach remarked, “It is such a huge honor to win this coveted award, which came as a surprise after KEFWA nominated me. I appreciate FIFPRO for recognizing my efforts in championing the rights and welfare of intersex players.”

The talented forward, now equipped with the FIFPRO Player Activism Award, is dedicated to leveraging this recognition to continue advocating for players and other intersex individuals. Many in this community face stigmatization and marginalization, and Kach aims to be a steadfast voice for their rights.

“My focus now is on continuing the activism for intersex players and being a voice that recognizes their rights and efforts. There are many who have been forced into hiding due to stigmatization, and I hope that the award will be a motivation for them to speak out,” added Kach.

In addition to the prestigious trophy, the FIFPRO Player Activism Award also came with a coveted prize of USD 10,000. This financial incentive further underscores the significance of Kach's impactful contributions and provides tangible support for the continued advocacy efforts within the intersex community.
