Boost students' security

The security of university and college students in different institutions across the country continues to raise concerns.

Only a week after a first-year Pwani University student was stabbed to death in the precincts of the institution in Kilifi town, Nyandarua National Polytechnic students are protesting the killing of a first-year student.

We have had many similar deaths of students within institutions of higher learning or in their neighbourhoods in the recent past. This should be a wake-up call to universities, colleges and the police. They must work in concert to enhance security within these institutions and surrounding areas where students rent houses.

Police must work hard to root out criminal elements to ensure the security of young men and women who come from all corners of the country to these institutions in search of knowledge.
