Kenya Airways to fly 5 times a week to New York from Nairobi

Kenya Airways (KQ) is set to increase its weekly flights From Nairobi to New York from the current 4 to 5 from October 29, 2023, as it ramps up upcoming demand for air travel in the summer season.

In a statement posted on its website, KQ stated that its plane will also do the daily flights from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York from December 4, 2023.

"Celebrating 5 years Milestones of 1700 flights and 72000KM to JFK Airport. Starting 29th October 2023, we offer you additional flights from 4x to 5x weekly from Nairobi to New York and Daily flights starting 4th December 2023," the statement read in part.

Kenya Airways first launched direct flights between Nairobi and New York in 2018, reducing connection flights between JFK Airport and JKIA via connective flights in the Middle East and Europe.

This saw Kenya become the first East African country and the 8th in Africa to operate direct flights to the United States of America, this is after South Africa, Morocco, Ethiopia, Cape Verde, Nigeria, and Senegal.

During the inaugural launch, KQ deployed a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a capacity of 234 passengers and the trip lasts between 13 - 15 hours.
