Bobi Wine arrested upon arrival at airport- Party

Uganda Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been arrested, officials from the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party claim.

Bobi Wine was arrested upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport on Thursday, October 5.

He was allegedly grabbed off the plane and whisked away by Ugandan police.

"Our President (Bobi Wine) picked up by regime operatives as soon as he landed at the airport,", the general secretary of Bobi Wine's National Unity Platform (NUP) David Lewis Rubongoya said on X.

According to reports, the NUP Party leader had just arrived in the East African country, after tours in Canada and South Africa.

The cowardly regime has arrested our President upon arrival at Entebbe Airport.

Thursday’s incident isn’t Wine’s first rodeo with authorities in Uganda.

He was in 2021 arrested ahead of his campaign rally in Luuka District, Eastern Uganda.

The former musician is a popular critic of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s regime and administration, which has seen him be a guest of the State on several occasions.
