Police are investigating an incident where six people were shot and injured in Dandora, Embakasi North Sub County as police officers pursued suspected robbers.

The six were rushed to the Mama Lucy Hospital where they are receiving treatment for bullet wounds.

Doctors at the facility, however, said that one of the victims who was shot in the head has been transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Speaking to the press, Buruburu Sub County Police Commander Francis Kamau said that the shooting took place when three suspected robbers were being pursued by police officers attached to the Dandora Police Station after an alarm was raised by members of the public.

"There were three people who were robbing Kenyans and when the police officers tried to arrest them one of the suspects fired at them and that's when the victims were caught in the crossfire," he said.

He said that one of those injured in the incident is a robbery suspect.

Kamau told The Standard that one of the suspects who was armed with a gun was able to escape alongside his accomplice while the third suspect was shot by police.
