Prominent Uasin Gishu farmer Jackson Kibor is dead .

His family says he was receiving treatment at St. Luke's Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital in Eldoret, where he died on Wednesday night, March 16.

According to kin, Kibor had been ailing for a while, and was dependent on external oxygen supply round the clock.

He has died aged 88.

Kibor was popular among youthful men, who christened him the chairperson of the men's conference.

The men's conference has been an informal and imaginary convention often held online to allow men share ideas on how to handle relationships with their partners.

Kibor was born in 1934 at Kipkabus in Ainabkoi Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.

His polygamous relationship, which was often rocked with acrimony, especially during break-ups, made news headlines a number of times.

Regular court fights with his sons over parcels of land, also hogged news highlights, making him earn the moniker 'controversial farmer-cum-politician'.
